Scenic Location Needed !

We're in the final steps towards getting this all pushed out the door for the first proper Catznip release in 9 months.

Which brings me our next request! We need suggestions for a scenic location in SL. Something that we can use as a background for the R9.0 release pictures. We don't mind what the land rating is, only that any pictures we take must be G rated.

Let us know your suggestions here or message Trinity Dejavu in SL.

Beta R9.0.12 Released

R9.0.12 Is (hopefully) the last update before we switch the main release over with R9.0.13

This update fixes a number of crashes and polishes up some the last little bits before we go live. From this point crashes and show stoppers ONLY. All other issues are now bumped to R9.1, please continue to report but don't expect fixes to be in this release.

A lot of work has been done in making inventory searching faster, please take some time to test this and make sure there are no problems.

This update tests the new in place updater. This should work for both Windows and Linux users. Feedback Please !

Beta R9.0.12 Inventory Surge

Kitty has been very productive the last few days while I've been sitting about playing pokemon with my daughter. Beta R9.0.12 will be pushed out to our testers in a couple of days time, little later then we had intended but this is going to be worth the wait.

The big exciting news is that as of R9.0.12 beta, inventory freezes should be a thing of the past, searching inventory is instantaneous and everything just got a little faster because of it. (Fingers Crossed)

R9.0.12 Beta will test the new updater so it is very important everyone is running R9.0.11

A few bugs that slipped in have been fixed, namely the sudden crash when editing land and the complete lack of German menus (my bad!) a couple of other crashes that cropped up have also been nailed (missing toasts etc) as well as the usual smattering of JIRA issues. Thank you so much everyone who has contributed!

From this point on we are feature frozen and only working on JIRA issues that affect the current release, it is the intention to get to R9.0.13 and all being well, move that over to the actual public release.

Beta R9.0.11 Released

R9.0.11 brings us very very close to being able to declare this round done, beyond any last minute blockers we anticipate that Beta R9.0.13 will become the new Catznip R9.0 public release.

This update vastly improves the updater on both Windows and Linux providing feedback while the update is being downloaded. Beta R9.0.12 is intended to test this and will be pushed in a few days time.

A lot of issues fixed in the release have been reported on our JIRA, it has been really awesome to see the attention to detail and perseverance shown by our testers.

If you haven't already please make an account on the JIRA and report everything, please  do not assume that any problems or weirdness are just 'SL being SL'. REPORT ALL BUGS.

Linux Users !

Do you run SL on Linux ?

We get that distribution packages (debs and rpms) are are the holy grail and we're a way off of that for now, we want to know how you use SL. Do you use the installer, system wide or just for your user, do you just extract and run the client?

Get in touch, either here or message Trinity Dejavu in SL.

Updated Avatar Picker & Updater

Following a request on our JIRA to add names to the friends tab of the avatar picker (used for group & friend invites and sharing inventory) [CATZ-116], the following will be part of Beta R9.0.11 and in addition to the second column makes the list searchable and shows on-line friends listed in bold. Much better for people with a LOT of friends.

The built in updater also got some more work, shows progress of the download and resumes should the client be restarted part way though. There is also menu item to manually check for an update. We don't want to do another update to the beta without this in place to avoid future confusion. Really looking forward to this being live.

I want to talk to Linux users and get some feedback ion how they run the viewer and what they would expect an updater to do in practice.

A huge thank you to everyone who has gotten in touch and especially those who have helped out on the JIRA and submitted translations.

Updater Feedback & Translations

There was a minor snafu this morning with the update from Beta R9.0.9 to R9.0.10 that was quickly fixed but it really raised the issue of updater not providing any feedback about what was going on.

Hopefully this will help to resolve some of the points raised by our beta testers, it's not complete and there is a very large question about what Linux users would prefer, but for now ..

There has also been some work done on integrating a lot of updated German translations provided by Qetesh (these include German RLVa menus!), lots more to go and hopeful we can find people to cover the other languages.
